The Role
Speilburg Literary Agency is seeking to add a new literary agent to our growing team. As a full-service agency that prides itself on editorial collaboration, we are looking for someone with a keen editorial eye, strong market instincts, and a passion for identifying high-concept, commercial projects. Key Responsibilities
Build and manage a roster of clients, including identifying, signing, and developing new talent
Provide thoughtful, hands-on editorial feedback to strengthen manuscripts and proposals
Submit projects to publishers and negotiate publishing agreements on behalf of clients
Cultivate relationships with editors, publishers, and industry professionals
Strategically guide client careers, including positioning projects within the marketplace
Stay informed on industry trends, emerging genres, and opportunities across publishing and media
Qualifications
1–2 years of experience as a literary agent or 5+ years of relevant publishing experience
Strong editorial instincts with the ability to shape and elevate creative work
Proven negotiation skills and confidence advocating on behalf of clients
Interest in commercial, high-concept projects and genres that expand the agency’s list
Collaborative mindset with excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working in a remote environment
