Mia Siegert

Mia Siegert (all pronouns are acceptable) is an author, costume designer, and screenwriter. Known for their raw, gritty prose, their publications include Jerkbait and Somebody Told Me (Carolrhoda, 2020)—the first traditionally published YA novel with a bigender protagonist. 

Mia’s books have made the Top LGBTQ+ Books of 2021 in the Chicago Review of Books, ANDPop’s #2 Best YA Book of 2016, and Goodreads Top Debut of May 2016, and have received tremendous praise and accolades from trade reviews worldwide, with features in Teen Vogue, School Library Journal (Verdict: Highly Recommended), Book Riot, and Buzzfeed. Their costumes have appeared on Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and several stage productions of CATS

Mia has an MFA from Goddard College. They live in New Jersey with their Australian husband and two rescue cats. When they were a junior, they trained with the former chef d’equip of the U.S. Show Jumping team in hopes of making the Olympics before an injury ended their equestrian career.
