David Ferraro was born in the suburbs of Minneapolis, where his parents allowed him to watch horror movies at a young age, igniting his passion for all things spooky. He was raised on a steady diet of comic books, YA novels and film, eventually going on to graduate with a B.A. in English and creative writing from St. Cloud State University. In 2015, he won Library Journal's SELF-e Award for best self-published fantasy for Yokai. He currently resides in Milwaukee, with his boyfriend and a very spoiled tortoise named Gamera, where he is constantly surrounded by books, both at home and at his day job.

His traditional debut, The Alchemy of Moonlight, will be published by Page Street Kids in August 2023.
